Beantown

I hate moving.

I ordered a pod (my dad keeps calling it an ipod and I assure him that if I could just download my furniture and belongings onto my ipod and point and click things into place at the new apartment, I would) Anyway, the pod I wanted is a smallish movable storage unit that would deliver my things from old home to new home. What arrives at my house Friday night? An eighteen-wheeler (which they park in my front yard for the weekend for me to pack up) I used 6 feet of space and then told them to come get it and drive it up to Beantown.

I also got a moving company to help me unload my stuff once it arrived (since I am friendless in Boston) and was charged $300 for "two muscular guys for two hours" (sounds sexy). Anyway, the guys who came to my door were: Shorty and Paul. Shorty was, go figure, SHORT and Paul was SKINNY and I was disappointed. Turns out, these guys don't know the first thing about moving furniture and totally banged up the apartment, (which, as luck would have it, was JUST redone). On top of that, I asked them what they're paid: $7.50 an hour!!! They made $13 each for the whole stint!!! And I paid the company $300 to unprofessionally unload my things with MY HELP!!

Icing on the cake: I offered the guys a cold beer at one point and when they left, I found they had helped themselves to the rest of the six pack as well.

I'm a doormat.
